Hannah Scott “Broken Homes” – Americana UK

Image provided by Evans Above PR

Here is the beautifully written and performed new single from contemporary folk singer Hannah Scott. As a stepparent to two children, Scott's own life experiences influence the lyrical message of “Broken Houses”. It's a thoughtful, thought-provoking exploration of the idea that it's always best to stay together. Being in a loving home can be more important and, as she sings, “Sometimes broken is better.” The difficult topic is handled sensitively. Scott's vocal melody is just great with its highs and lows – her pure voice is captivating and really draws attention to her poetic words.

The video is beautifully animated, with images of sand castles, plants sprouting from their roots, and family relationships that reinforce the song's themes. Scott explains: “The video was animated with sand by Eleanor Giovanni and uses footage of me, my partner and my stepsons, as well as me and my sister with my late father. I was pleased that we were able to include recordings by him in the album deals that address my grief after his death.”

This is the second single from “Absence of doubt”the upcoming album will be released on October 25th. Scott co-produced the album along with engineer and producer Adrian Hall (Tori Amos). A number of outstanding musicians were involved in the process: drummer Geoff Holroyd (Feeder), bassist Matt Aston (Lucy Spraggan) and guitarist George Boomsma (Katherine Priddy). The result is an accomplished collection that offers a melodic perspective on important themes such as love and loss, parenthood and grief. Listen.
