Suspected suicide after tragic incident at Monaco train station

The incident caused all trains between Nice and Ventimiglia to come to a standstill at the height of rush hour.

Monaco train station was the scene of a tragedy yesterday morning. Normally the station was completely closed and no trains ran between Nice and Ventimiglia. A woman was hit by a train coming from Menton at around 8.45am, shocked passengers testified.

Despite a rapid response by the police and fire departments to secure the area and carry out preliminary investigations, they failed to rescue the victim, a 33-year-old French woman living in Cap d'Ail.

According to a press release from the public prosecutor's office, initial findings indicate suicide. The case was referred to the criminal investigation department to clarify the exact circumstances of the tragic event.
