560kg cocaine worth ₹2,000 crore seized as Delhi Police breaks up drug syndicate, four people arrested

Delhi Police on Wednesday busted an international drug syndicate and seized 560 kg of cocaine.

The cocaine is worth more than 2,000 crore and is said to be the biggest drug bust ever in the city.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested four people along with the consignment from Mehrauli in south Delhi.

The arrest comes just before the holidays.

According to ANI, the cocaine is more than worth it 2,000 crores in the international market and the Special Cell of Delhi Police is investigating narco-terrorism.

The arrested men had planned to sell the cocaine in Delhi and the National Capital Region, PTI quoted officials as saying.

Further investigations are underway.

In early August, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) conducted a raid on a mephedrone manufacturing plant in Thane district of Maharashtra and seized liquid drugs 800 crore.

The Gujarat Police also conducted a similar operation at a pharmaceutical factory in Bharuch district where they recovered liquid tramadol 31 crore, he said.

On July 29, the customs department seized tramadol tablets worth Rs 68 lakh at Mundra port in Kutch district of Gujarat 110 crore. The seizure involved two export containers destined for the West African countries of Sierra Leone and Niger.

On July 18, the ATS had raided a mephedrone manufacturing plant in Palsana area of ​​Surat city and seized drugs and raw materials 51.4 crore, he said, adding that three people were also arrested from the spot.

In early August, the Guwahati Zonal unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) cracked down on an interstate drug smuggling operation, seizing 934,510 kg of ganja and arresting one person.

In February, following raids in Pune district and New Delhi, police seized 1,100 kg of the synthetic stimulant mephedrone, valued at more than 2,000 crore and arrested three people.
