Lady Gaga says she could have a 'courthouse' wedding with 'Chinese food'

Lady Gaga talks about her possible wedding plans.

When appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! On Tuesday, October 1, the 38-year-old Grammy winner shared how she and her fiancé Michael Polansky have some low-key ideas for their big day.

“We're actually talking about going to the courthouse just the two of us and ordering Chinese food,” Gaga told host Jimmy Fallon. “But knowing me, it could also be like a circus with unicorns,” she added jokingly.

Gaga, who was on the show to promote her new film Joker: Folie à Deuxalso revealed the romantic way Polansky asked the question.

“He proposed to me right after my birthday,” she said. “So my birthday passed and I thought, 'Well, I thought he was going to propose, but then maybe…'”

Gaga then shared that Polansky “gave me a beautiful birthday dinner” and then they “went rock climbing” after previously going together, “which was super fun.”

“Really? Do you climb rocks?” Kimmel asked.

“I mean, I do now,” Gaga said, adding to the audience with a laugh as she cupped her hands around her mouth, “I would do anything for love.”

Speaking further about the proposal, she continued, “He didn't propose to me at the top. We climbed up, took a few photos and then went back down. And we just went back into the room and were talking and he said…it was very Michael to ask me if he could ask me.”

“He wanted to know if it was okay to propose before he proposed to me, and I said, 'Yes!' It's so fine!' Gaga exclaimed.

“So wait…he didn’t do it upstairs? “Are you sure this guy is OK?” Kimmel joked.

“I think it was smart! “It was safe, safe down,” Gaga said. “He had the ring in his backpack, so it was super cute. He just got in his backpack and pulled it out.”

When Kimmel asked if Polansky had gotten down on one knee, Gaga replied, “No, he didn't. “But you know what, I'm a modern lady, I like what he did.”

At the Los Angeles premiere of Joker: Folie à DeuxOn Monday, September 30, Gaga spoke to PEOPLE about how life with Polansky changed for the better.

“I just love my fiancé so much,” she gushed. “He's my best friend. He's my partner and I just feel like everything changes when you're with your best friend.”

Gaga also opened up about what it was like collaborating with her fiancé on her latest studio album. harlequin – what accompanies it joker Continuing – as joint executive producers on the project.

“It's just the first time we've decided to fully commit to it and do it. It just felt right,” she told PEOPLE. “We were both so excited.”
