Trial set for man accused of attempted assassination of Donald Trump

The trial date for the man who authorities say watched former President Donald Trump on his golf course for 12 hours is set for November.

According to court documents, Ryan Wesley Routh's jury trial will take place Nov. 18 at the Alto Lee Adams, Sr. Courthouse in Fort Pierce.

The trial date was set by Judge Aileen Cannon.

Previous court documents say Routh faces charges of attempted assassination, possession of a firearm with an erased serial number, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and assault on a federal officer.

Routh pleaded not guilty to all charges in federal court on Monday.

Routh is accused of attempting to assassinate the Republican presidential candidate on September 15 at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.

Earlier reports said Trump was on his way to the green while playing an unscheduled round of golf when a U.S. Secret Service agent spotted the barrel of a rifle sticking out of the trees and opened fire.

He was taken into custody by the Martin County Sheriff's Office later that afternoon.
