St. Marys Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault – Mercer County Outlook

(10/24/10) The Mercer County Sheriff's Department charged Mark Sholler, 58, on Sunday and he is being held on a charge of second-degree aggravated assault.

Assault: Assault is typically classified as a second-degree felony. Possible penalties include up to eight years in prison, a fine of up to $15,000, and community control (probation) of up to five years. There are many circumstances that increase the severity of this offense and the possible penalties. These circumstances are described in Section 2903.11 of the Ohio Revised Code.

The prosecution must prove that you knowingly caused serious physical harm to another person or that you knowingly caused or attempted to cause physical harm to another person through the use of a deadly weapon or dangerous means of combat.

Sholler is being held without bail at the Mercer County Adult Detention Center pending a hearing in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
