Illinois police arrest Maroa residents in attempted murder case

Maroa, IL – A Maroa man is in custody following a suspected attempted murder incident involving a female victim. Police responded to a 911 call on North Maple Street on September 28th. When officers arrived, they found the woman suffering from serious burn injuries. EMS transported her to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to the Illinois State Police (ISP), local authorities immediately arrested Matthew R. Broadhacker, 36, at the scene. The ISP's Criminal Investigation Department (DCI) was called to assist Maroa Police in investigating the incident.

On Oct. 1, the Macon County District Attorney charged Broadhacker with attempted murder, aggravated domestic violence and aggravated assault – all Class X felonies. Broadhacker remains in custody at the Macon County Jail.
