Paul McCartney starts Got Back Tour 2024: set list and video

Paul McCartney kicked off the latest leg of his Got Back tour on Tuesday at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, Uruguay.

You can check out the setlist and videos from the performance below.

For McCartney, it was a pretty standard setlist of the last few days – that is, a marathon performance with 37 songs consisting of Beatles, Wings and solo classics. The octogenarian honored the late John Lennon and George Harrison with “Here Today” and “Something,” respectively, and virtually dueted with Lennon during an encore of “I've Got a Feeling.”

With the Quarrymen's “In Spite of All the Danger,” McCartney, as usual, looked back on his early musical efforts and dedicated the solo piece “My Valentine” to his wife Nancy Shevell. The show even included the live debut of a well-received song from McCartney's old group.

McCartney's Got Back Tour Kickoff 2024 Features New Beatles Song

Perhaps the most notable addition to McCartney's set list for the 2024 Got Back tour was the final Beatles song ever, “Now and Then,” released last November.

McCartney, Ringo Starr and Harrison worked on “Now and Then” in 1995. anthology Sessions that also produced “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love”. The song is based on a vocal and piano demo by Lennon that has so far been unsalvageable due to its rough quality. But with the help of audio restoration technology on behalf of Come back Director Peter Jackson extracted Lennon's vocals and made the demo usable. The two surviving Beatles recorded new parts for “Now and Then,” and the song was rounded out with guitar tracks recorded by Harrison in 1995.

“To be still working on The Beatles' music in 2023 and to be about to release a new song that the public hasn't heard yet, I find it an exciting thing,” McCartney said in a statement at the time of the song's release.

McCartney has been on the Got Back tour since April 2022, when he kicked off the trek in Spokane, Washington. The current leg will keep him on the road until December and take him through South America, Mexico and Europe.
