Bond changed for man accused of killing Dodge County woman

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Bond was changed Tuesday for the man accused of killing his estranged wife in Dodge County, court records show.

A preliminary hearing was held Tuesday for Zachariah Rasch, whose cash bond was increased to $1 million. Rasch is charged with first-degree intentional murder and concealment of a corpse in the death of Crystal Rasch.

His bail had previously been set at $250,000 when he appeared in court for allegedly making unauthorized purchases using Crystal Rasch's bank card.

The Dodge County Sheriff's Office reported in June that it was looking for Crystal Rasch, 37, of rural Clyman. Sheriff Dale Schmidt said she was last seen in public on June 11 and was reported missing on June 23.

Sheriff Schmidt determined in July that the investigation into her disappearance would now be classified as a death investigation.

A criminal complaint said authorities found traces of blood in Zachariah Rasch's vehicle that matched Crystal Rasch's DNA profile. Authorities also found bones and a tooth at a burn site on Zachariah Rasch's property in Clyman. Crystal Rasch's cause of death was not stated.

If convicted, Zachariah Rasch faces life in prison for murder.

He is scheduled to appear in court again on November 5 to answer his charges.
