PM Modi sends Jewish New Year wishes to Netanyahu | India News

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended his warm wishes to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the Jewish service New YearRosh Hashanah.
In a post on
“May the New Year bring peace, hope and good health to everyone’s lives. Shana Tova!” he added.
The Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, is one of the holiest days in the Jewish faith. This holiday marks the beginning of the Jewish month of Tishri, which is the seventh month according to the Hebrew calendar.
The community believes that it is the day that God created the world, including Adam and Eve. The central ceremony includes the blowing of the shofar in select synagogues and congregational prayers held next to a body of water.
In the evening, candles are lit and families gather for a traditional meal, which often includes challah bread, honey-dipped apples and pomegranates, symbolizing a sweet and prosperous new year.
