Rishabh Pant confirmed his first contract as Delhi Capitals co-owner reveals details

Parth Jindal, co-owner of Delhi Capitals, gave a hint about the retentions for the franchises ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction. He confirmed that Rishabh Pant will be their first signing and they will also talk about other players.

The management of the franchises will be back on the drawing board. This is because the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the retention policy before the auction and each team has the option to retain 6 players including the RTM.

It will be a major headache for all franchises, especially when there are big names on almost every team. Delhi Capitals will also be among the franchises that will have retention issues and they have a host of big Indian and foreign players in their ranks.

The Delhi Capitals include Rishabh Pant, David Warner, Tristan Stubbs, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. Retaining six of them will be a major headache for the team management as they would be interested in retaining the top six.

Parth Jindal, co-owner of Delhi Capitals, said they have quality players. He mentioned that they need to hold talks with GMR Group, another co-owner and director of cricket Sourav Ganguly before confirming Rishabh Pant's retention. Speaking to IANS, he explained:

“Yes, we have to keep. We have some very good players on our team. The rules have just been released so decisions will be made after consultation with GMR and our Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly. Rishabh Pant will definitely be retained.”

Rishabh Pant has been an integral part of the franchise for the past few seasons. The goalkeeper-batsman has captained the franchise in the league for the past few seasons. He has led the team from the front and is keen to end the team's title drought in the next edition of the Indian Premier League

We also have Axar Patel who is excellent – Parth Jindal on possible associations from Delhi Capitals to Rishabh Pant

Parth Jindal further spoke about the possible choice of Delhi Capitals. He named Axar Patel, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Tristan Stubbs, Kuldeep Yadav, Abishek Porel, Mukesh Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed and hinted at retentions. He also mentioned that they will discuss it soon. He explained:

“We also have Axar Patel, who is outstanding, Tristan Stubbs, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Kuldeep Yadav, Abishek Porel, Mukesh Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed, all very good players in our team. We'll see what happens in the auction.” But first, according to the rule, we can keep six players. After the discussions we will proceed with the auction and see what happens.

Delhi Capitals is among the three original teams in the tournament that are yet to win the Indian Premier League title. They reached the final of the tournament in 2020 before losing to Mumbai Indians. This time they would hope to put together a squad that would help them win the title.
