25-year-old accused of shooting man while trying to steal his necklace

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Louisville police have arrested a man who they say shot someone at a Circle K gas station while trying to steal their necklace.

The shooting happened Sept. 30 on St. Andrews Church Road. The arrest said police found a man shot in the chest in a car. The victim told officers that 25-year-old Leshaun Murray tried to steal the man's necklace and shot him.

The arrest memo said Murray tried to get into the man's car and then went to his car to get a rifle. Murray then placed the rifle in the victim's car and fired one shot, the citation states.

Murray then got into his car and drove off, police said. Officers attempted to stop him, but said Murray sped away and cut through a parking lot to escape.

He was later arrested and taken to the Louisville Metro Correctional Facility. He is charged with assault, attempted robbery, fleeing police and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.

The shooting was captured on video at the gas station.
