M4 MacBook Pro Leaks: 4 Amazing New Features

Apple is about to unveil the new 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro and I've gotten a first look at some exciting specs. Ready to see what's coming?

Apple is gearing up to launch some exciting updated computers by the end of the year, and in the spotlight is the sleek 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro! Recently, a juicy leak revealed the apparent retail packaging of this upcoming beauty. It gives us a sneak peek at some important specs!

The debate over whether 8GB of RAM is enough for Macs has been a hot topic for years. It all started in 2012 with the first Retina MacBook Pro, which came with 8GB as standard. But you know what? The latest rumors suggest that the base model could go a step further with 16GB of RAM. Curious what else is coming? Read on to find out!

1. Apple M4 chip

Apple's top desktop, the Mac Pro, gets a serious upgrade with the new Hidra chip. While the Mac Pro isn't a big seller in Apple's computer lineup, it has a loyal following of users who swear by it.

The leak comes from ShrimpApplePro on X, but keep in mind that the details have not been confirmed as someone leaked the information to them. Assuming the rumor holds up, the upcoming chip will feature a 10-core CPU, a nice improvement over the M3 chip's 8-core setup. If you're into high-end gaming, content creation, or using resource-intensive applications, using more cores could really pay off. We're keeping our fingers crossed that it also represents a solid alternative to Nvidia GPUs for running local LLMs. There is a great need for more competition in this area.

The iPad Pro is equipped with Apple's new M4 chip and, according to Wirecutter's tests, can withstand the processing power of today's Windows laptops very well. Currently, Apple's Pro tablets are even faster than their laptops!

2. RAM

Previous rumors have suggested that future Macs will come with 16GB of RAM, and the packaging of the next 14-inch MacBook Pro appears to back that up. It's a great option for those who run multiple programs or use heavy apps. I typically recommend 16GB of RAM for casual gamers, multitaskers, or anyone who uses apps like Photoshop or Premiere. It is perfect to ensure a smooth process without any problems.

The M4 chip is the first Apple processor designed from the ground up specifically for AI. It has a CPU that is 50% faster than the M2. Since Apple puts a lot of emphasis on AI, increasing the minimum RAM makes perfect sense. Plus, it's 2024, so any laptop with “Pro” in the name should definitely have more than 8GB of RAM!

3. Thunderbolt 4 port

The next 14-inch MacBook Pro will feature 3 Thunderbolt 4 ports, making it even more versatile. These ports are compatible with USB 2.0, USB 3.2 and USB4, allowing you to easily connect virtually any of your devices, including gaming accessories. A Thunderbolt dock makes life even easier by allowing you to connect multiple high-resolution monitors, audio devices, and more at the same time.

It also helps keep your workspace tidy. Instead of running cables everywhere, they all connect to one hub. This reduces clutter and makes it much easier to manage your setup or separate equipment when needed.

4. Space black

It looks like the rumored packaging suggests that Space Black will soon be an option for the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro. Currently it is only available with the M3 Pro or M3 Max chips. The classic silver finish has always made Macs special, so it feels a little strange to switch back to black, especially since many laptops are already black. But everyone has their own taste – both colors have their charm!

Personally, I think Space Black looks nicer than Space Gray. If you're tired of Space Gray, Space Black is a good choice. However, since all of Apple's displays and input devices are silver, it seems clear that they consider silver to be the true “pro” color.

One aspect that raises questions about legitimacy is the use of “Apple ID” instead of “Apple Account”. Apple has recently moved away from the Apple ID name. So it would be strange if they resorted to this on a product that hasn't even been released yet.

These images are quite blurry and patchy, suggesting that they may be fake. In addition, the box with the same wallpaper as the current MacBook Pro series is definitely a warning sign. So it's smart to be skeptical. However, ahead of the official announcement, ShrimpApplePro shared accurate packaging images for the iPhone 14 Pro and the latest MacBook Pro.

But hey, with the Apple event taking place in October, we won't have to wait long to find out all the juicy details about the M4 MacBook Pro!

Conclusion

Looking at the M4 chips in iPads makes me excited about the upcoming MacBooks! With some exciting upgrades on the horizon, Apple is likely to deliver a truly powerful experience for gamers, developers and multitaskers.

As we approach the rumored October event, I'm excited to see what new features will be added. Will the elegant Space Black finish prevail? Whether you're a long-time Mac user or just curious, Apple's next lineup is going to be pretty impressive!
