Krusty Krab, the fictional fast food restaurant in “SpongeBob SquarePants,” will never be real, but at least it has the next best thing – a Krabby Patty.

Wendy's is launching a special meal in honor of the 25th anniversary of the animated series “SpongeBob SquarePants,” including a “Krabby Patty Kollab” cheeseburger and a “Pineapple Under the Sea” Frosty at its U.S. and Canadian restaurants. Flavor includes limited time starting October 8th.

The Krabby Patty is the same as a regular cheeseburger, but with an extra slice of cheese and a “top secret” Krabby Patty sauce, the chain announced Wednesday. The special Frosty is vanilla with a pineapple and mango flavored puree swirled on top.

Stimulating consumer nostalgia by collaborating with a cartoon that millennials love could increase sales. Burger King also announced this week that it is partnering with MGM's animated film franchise “The Addams Family” for a “Wednesday's Whopper” with a purple bun.

In a press release, Wendy's said it “only makes sense for two of pop culture's most iconic squares to join forces,” a reference to the chain's Square Burgers.

The use of two foods, most of which are already on the menu, makes it easier for the employees to put together the specialties. McDonald's often launches celebrity meals, which feature items already on the menu but with a special name, and finds financial success.

All fast food chains are fighting for dollars from American diners who are not eating out as often and are spending less, causing fast food sales to decline and restaurant traffic to decline.

Because of this, companies have come out with inexpensive meals and special promotions to boost sales. Whether the strategy works will become clear when the results are published in the coming weeks.
