Astros fans took the chance to troll Mariners and Cal Raleigh after the division win

One of the better rivalries to develop in recent years was between the Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners in the AL West. Now, it wasn't a particularly hard-fought game as Houston was much more successful, but when it comes to head-to-head matchups, Seattle is actually 17-9 since the start of 2023.

Then again, that doesn't really mean much when the Astros have won the division seven times in the last eight years.

Part of this great rivalry extends to social media and is extremely entertaining. The back and forth between the Mariners and Astros on Twitter is some of the silliest content out there, and we're all here for it.

Earlier this season, when the Mariners got off to a great start and extended their lead in the division to 10 games, Seattle fans were rightfully on social media. However, it was only a matter of time before the sleeping giant Astros woke up.

Astros continue Mariners dominance on Twitter after winning AL West

Seattle once sat comfortably at the top of the division, and it seemed like they would finally defeat the Astros, who have dominated the AL West for nearly a decade. Midseason problems and an epic collapse, as well as the Astros' absolute heat, killed that chance. But the Mariners understandably had fun, especially in the middle of the season.

After Game 84, in which the Mariners won a close battle against the Twins in extras and the Astros lost to the Mets after seven straight wins, Cal Raleigh made a remark that has not aged well.

“Always good when the Astros lose, right?” he said after the win. This got all sorts of Astros fans making fun of the Mariners after Houston won the AL West on Tuesday. “I hate to SEA it,” some wrote, mocking Seattle’s home run trident and talking about how the Mariners jinxed themselves. At least the Mariners escaped Houston with a win on Wednesday, keeping their playoff hopes alive while spoiling Alex Bregman's potential sendoff in front of their home crowd.

This is sure to spark more and more social media fights as the season progresses, and hopefully Mariners fans can give something back if the Astros are eliminated from the postseason. Seattle just needs to stay alive this weekend to keep the trash talk opportunities alive.
