85-year-old killed in serious car accident in northeast El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) – El Paso police are identifying the man who died in a crash in northeast El Paso in August.

The fatal collision occurred on August 17, 2024 at 9:13 p.m. in the 5200 block of Woodrow Bean. The man, 85-year-old Richard Carlton Wilson, died on September 27, 2024. According to police, Wilson's alcohol consumption and lack of control over his speed contributed to the accident.

Police officers said Wilson was driving west on Woodrow Bean when he struck a car containing two adults and two small children. The adults suffered minor injuries. The children, aged one and five, were examined at a local hospital and were found to be uninjured.

According to El Paso police, this is the 48th traffic fatality of the year, compared to 55 this time last year.
