3 people arrested in connection with car break-ins in Limestone Co.

LIMESTONE CO., Ala. (WAFF) – Three people have been arrested in connection with car break-ins in Limestone County.

According to the Limestone County Sheriff's Office, officers received reports of vehicle thefts in East Limestone on Monday morning.

LCSO officials said Capt. Caleb Durden noticed a vehicle associated with the suspects exiting Landview Lane.

After noticing the passing vehicle, officers confirmed the driver was Xavier Marquise Mason, who had an active warrant for his arrest, according to the sheriff's office.

Durden then reportedly turned on his blue lights and siren, but Mason allegedly refused to comply.

LCSO officers then said Mason made a U-turn on Pepper Road and drove back south head-on with Durden. Mason avoided a head-on collision by pulling into a driveway to avoid Durden and then fleeing south at a high rate of speed.

Durden then reportedly followed Mason to the 15000 block of Landview Ln., where Mason entered a garage with his vehicle.

Officials said Mason entered the home and then exited through the back door.

Officers and investigators quickly set up a cordon and after a foot pursuit, investigators were able to take him into custody.

Officials said probable cause was found to obtain a search warrant for Mason's home. There, investigators found three firearms and a selection of drugs.

Mason, 31, of Athens, was arrested on charges of attempting to elude, trafficking in drugs and possession of a controlled substance.

Mason was also served with a bond revocation warrant for Theft 1st.

After investigators completed the search, a vehicle arrived at the home in the 15000 block of Landview Ln.

LCSO Deputy Rolan Hipolito quickly moved into action and arrested two suspects who attempted to break into the apartment.

The suspects were Paul Bryant Patterson, 24, of Athens, and Maliah Lou Ann Allen, 22, of Athens.

Officials said they were able to positively identify the alleged vehicle burglary suspects thanks to footage from victims and neighbors.

Patterson and Allen were arrested and charged with unlawful entry into a vehicle and attempted unlawful entry into a vehicle.

Authorities said additional charges against Patterson and Allen are expected as more victims come forward.
