For the second time this week, a teenager was arrested in connection with a threat at Lake Travis High School

A 16-year-old Harris County male was arrested by the Lake Travis ISD Police Department on Wednesday and charged with making terroristic threats against Lake Travis High School.

The arrest followed an incident on September 24, 2024, when a student at Lake Travis High School received a text message threatening violence that read, “I'll shoot up your school” and “Take you before my first.” Be careful.” The message caused fear and anxiety among students, staff and parents and led to disruptions to the teaching day.

Law enforcement quickly assessed the situation and determined there was no immediate danger, but the incident was thoroughly investigated.

This arrest is the second related incident in just two days as authorities continue to investigate a similar threat against Hudson Bend Middle School. Although these threats were deemed unreliable, school officials urge parents to discuss the serious consequences of such actions with their children.

Lake Travis ISD Superintendent Paul Norton emphasized the commitment of school leaders and law enforcement to ensuring safety in the district. “Thank you for your continued trust and support. Together, we will ensure that our schools remain a safe and supportive environment for all students and staff,” he said in a letter to parents and guardians.

The district recommends using the Cavs Who Care hotline, which is available 24 hours a day to students, staff and parents.
