MYRTLE CREEK MAN DETAILED AFTER ALLEGED INCIDENT AT STORE – KQEN News Radio

October 3, 2024 4:20 p.m

A Myrtle Creek man was jailed after an alleged incident at a business on Tuesday.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said the 45-year-old randomly attacked an employee as he was pumping gas at a gas station in the 200 block of Pruner Road just before 1 p.m. The man then reportedly attempted to hit the victim, but only grazed him as the victim was able to mostly avoid the impact.

The suspect then reportedly began behaving aggressively and yelling that the victim was holding his girlfriend captive. The victim had to drive the man away with a window squeegee.

The man ran into Tri City and was pursued by a volunteer firefighter, eventually stopping near a residence in the 400 block of Valley Drive. When contacted by a deputy, the suspect did not deny what he had done, but requested that the deputy check on his imaginary girlfriend, who he claimed was being held at the gas station.

The suspect was charged with disorderly conduct and second-degree harassment. He remained in custody on $300 bail following his arraignment.
