Where to see

Location: American Family Field (Milwaukee)
Channel: ESPN | Electricity: Fubo (Try for free)
Likely throwers: RHP Frankie Montas (7-11, 4.84 ERA) vs. LHP Sean Manaea (12-6, 3.47 ERA)
Opportunities: MIL-110 | NYM-110; over/under: 7.5

After a back-and-forth Game 1 in which the Mets took the lead for good thanks to a five-run fifth inning, the Brewers send Frankie Montas to the mound to try to keep their season alive. Montas was acquired from the Reds at the trade deadline and allowed 29 earned runs in 57 1/3 innings with Milwaukee. Manaea, on the other hand, was brilliant for the Mets this year, especially afterward change his arm slot to resemble Chris Sale. He's played in three playoff games in his career and all of them went poorly, but since signing with New York he's looked like a completely different pitcher.

Here's what you should know about the Mets and Brewers heading into the Wild Card Series.

Mets: The Mets are making their second postseason appearance in the last three years. New York's chances of reaching October seemed limited after a brutal May in which they lost 19-9. The Mets then bounced back and recorded their 40th second-half victory on Monday, winning the first game of a doubleheader against the Braves and clinching their spot in the playoffs.

As an additional subplot to this series, the Mets are led by former Brewers manager David Stearns. Stearns, who led the Brewers from 2015-22, took a step back for the 2023 season before leaving the organization to join the Mets.

Brewer: The Brewers are making their sixth postseason appearance in the last seven years. Unfortunately, they were eliminated in the wildcard round on three of those trips. Milwaukee will look to turn around its fortunes from last October, after a season in which they finally took control of the Central in late April.
