Willis HS student arrested for allegedly yelling “I have an AK-47 in my bag.”

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) says it arrested a 14-year-old Willis High School student on Wednesday after an alarming exchange.

In a press release to KBTX, the sheriff's office said it received reports that a student was yelling “I have an AK-47 in my bag” as students and staff filled the school's hallways.

The incident was reported by several staff and students at the school.

After an investigation, MCSO determined the claim was false and arrested the student. They were accused of making a false alarm. That student was taken to the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center.

False alarms or threats of violence are taken very seriously. It is illegal to spread false reports of emergencies, including bombings, fires or other threats that may cause panic or lead to emergency response. Making false claims can have serious legal consequences, including criminal penalties and long-term consequences for the individual concerned” MCSO said in its press release.
