Charlotte, Texas murder suspect arrested

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man wanted in a fatal shooting in September has been arrested several states away.

According to Chlarotte-Mecklenburg police, Ramon Alexi Santos Funes, 34, was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Khyre' Jamaal Grier on Thursday, September 26.

Grier, 25, was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds in a townhouse complex on Eastcrest Drive near Central Avenue.

Famio Hermenio Funes, 49, was arrested shortly after the shooting and charged with murder. Ramon Funes was arrested Wednesday in Orange County, Texas, about 90 miles east of Houston. He will be returned to Mecklenburg County for formal charges.

CMPD has not directly said whether Famio Funes or Ramon Funes are related.

One of Khyre's relatives shared that he loved his children and was “full of laughter and joy.” He also loved cars and “would talk about cars all day if you let him.”
