Woman arrested in raid over illegal marijuana

A woman was arrested Monday after she was found with a large amount of marijuana worth more than $1 million, according to Corcoran police.

According to CPD, just before 10 a.m. Monday morning, officers responded to the 1400 block of Osage Avenue to reports of an unattended child seen crying outside a residence.

Officers were able to get the child to safety and discovered that he had been left alone in the apartment.

When the police arrived, they tried to find out if anyone else was there.

They found several marijuana plants growing inside.

With the help of the Kings County Sheriff's Office Ag Unit, police were able to obtain a search warrant for the illegal marijuana being grown at the residence.

Officials said they found over 317 marijuana plants with a street value of over $1 million.

The plants were then destroyed.

Officers took the child from the home to Tulare County Child Protective Services (CPS).

According to CPD, the woman, later identified as 41-year-old Bartola Quinones Cervantes of Visalia, was arrested for child abuse, possession of marijuana for sale and cultivation of over six marijuana plants.

Cervantes was booked into the Kings County Jail in Hanford on $60,000 bail.

CPD detectives are still investigating additional people who may have been involved.
