General Hospital star Ron Hale dies at 78

General Hospital star Ron Hale died Aug. 27 at his home in St. George, South Carolina, according to an online obituary. He was 78.

A cause of death was not announced.

The actor is best known for his role as Mike Corbin on the ABC soap opera from 1995 to 2010. He also portrayed the character in Port Charles from 1997 to 2000. His achievements also include a role as Dr. Roger Coleridge Ryan's hope from 1975 to 1989 and after Search for tomorrow.

“It is with heavy hearts that we have lost another great human being,” Warlock wrote of X on Wednesday, October 3. “My dear friend Ron Hale has passed away. Ron was an incredible talent and an even better friend. I'll miss you.”

General Hospital'S Jon Lindstromwho plays Kevin Collins and Ryan Chamberlain on the soap, shared Warlock's post and expressed his condolences.

“My deepest condolences, Billy. I loved the guy,” Lindstrom wrote on X an hour after Warlock’s post. “I could count on him to show up at a High Lonesome show or some other gig. Always supportive. My fondest memory is being on a flight with him from Los Angeles to New York and Richard Simmons sitting in front of us. Yes, we all had a lot of fun! RIP #RonHale.”

In 2010, Hale spoke to We love soaps about moving away from his General Hospital Appearance to pursue other interests.

“It's been 45 years since I unpacked my only suitcase in New York City and went to my first class at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts,” he told the outlet at the time. “I have been so blessed with my career. Nobody appreciates it more than me. But it took a lot of hard work and dedication.”

I love to travel, I love to play golf, I would love to go out in a small tractor, clear half an acre of land, plant it and watch things grow. It’s very idyllic, but I can make it happen.”

According to his obituary, Hale is survived by his nieces and nephews, Lori Brown, Max Brabham, Erin Wilson and Marc Brown.
