Yes, Warhammer 40,000 superfan Henry Cavill is playing Space Marine 2, no, he won't reveal his username

Henry Cavill, the world's most famous Warhammer 40,000 fan, is enjoying the recently released Space Marine 2 like so many others.

In an Instagram post, the “Superman and Witcher” star praised developers Saber Interactive for the action game set in Games Workshop's dark universe, but revealed that he was unable to complete the campaign alone on the difficulty setting. Angel of Death” which is the most difficult of the four difficulties available.

As we can see from the photo, Cavill is currently a big fan of Space Marine 2's PvP mode, called Eternal War. We can see him matchmaking in the PC version of the game, although the actor was smart enough to rewrite his username with the word “No.” Yes, that means you could be playing with or against Henry Cavill in Space Marine 2's PvP without even realizing it.

Space Marine 2's PvP, Cavill said, “has real potential to be absolutely great,” but admits he has no knowledge of video game development.

“Disclaimer: I don't know anything about game development, so the dreams I have might be rather difficult to achieve!” he said.

Also of note, Cavill is playing as the Ultramarine tactics class and has a copy of The Horus Heresy Book Two on his table. The book contains rules and special characters for the pre-Heresy Iron Hands, Salamanders, Night Lords and Word Bearers Legions, which I think will cause quite a stir in the Warhammer 40,000 community.

It might make sense for Cavill to dive into the Warhammer 40,000 universe now. Games Workshop recently reiterated that Amazon's highly anticipated Warhammer 40,000 film and television series, in which Cavill is involved, will not happen unless both companies can agree on “creative guidelines” by December 2024.

In December 2023, Games Workshop announced that it would work with Amazon for a 12-month period ending December 2024 “to agree on creative guidelines for the films and television series to be developed by Amazon.” And this agreement “will only come into effect if the creative guidelines are mutually agreed upon between Games Workshop and Amazon.”

“We will inform you accordingly,” Games Workshop said, just as a Space Marine might tell a guardsman worried about an impending battle. That means Games Workshop and Amazon only have a few months to get their act together, otherwise the Warhammer 40,000 movies and TV series that fans so desperately want may never happen.

If the Warhammer 40,000 Amazon projects move forward, Cavill will be involved. The Hollywood actor is expected to star in all Amazon Studios productions and executive produce the Warhammer 40,000 series.

While concrete details about shows and films are likely still a ways off, Cavill still seemed excited to bring Warhammer 40,000 to life. “I have loved Warhammer since I was a boy and this moment was very special for me. The opportunity to oversee this cinematic universe from its inception is a great honor and responsibility,” said Cavill. “I couldn't be more grateful for the hard work that Vertigo, Amazon and Games Workshop have done to make this possible. One step closer to realizing an almost lifelong dream.”

In February, Cavill once again discussed the Amazon project “Warhammer 40,000”.said: “It is the greatest privilege of my professional career to have this opportunity. I can't say too much, it's still early days here too. But having that opportunity to put it on the screen and be at the controls like that. “It can be faithful is the key for me.

“This is the stuff I’ve been around since I was a kid. This is something I dream about in my free time, even as an adult, and I can make it a reality. There’s no better reason I joined the industry than to do something like this.”

Warhammer 40,000 is Games Workshop's science fiction universe that serves as the setting for the hugely popular tabletop war game featuring the legendary Space Marines. It is a bleak universe in which humanity clings to survival in the face of terrible threats within and without the fascist empire.

Who could Cavill play in the Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe? Speaking to IGN in 2021, Cavill expressed interest in it play one of the Primarchs or Captains Generalwho are high-ranking key figures from Warhammer history.
