One person was seriously injured after a crash in Jones Co.

JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) – One person was seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 84 in Jones County Wednesday evening.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., the Powers, M&M and Sandersville Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the collision at Highway 84 and 184/Wisteria Trail.

When first responders arrived, they discovered two vehicles, a Jeep and a Chevy Blazer, as well as three people.

The driver of the Chevy Blazer suffered serious injuries and the vehicle sustained significant damage to the passenger side and rear of the vehicle.

The two occupants of the Jeep denied injuries and refused to be transported to the hospital by ambulance. The Jeep sustained minor damage to the front end.

Witnesses reported the Jeep was traveling east on Highway 84 just outside the Laurel city limits and the Blazer was attempting to cross the highway from the south side to the north side at the time of the incident.

Traffic was slowed eastbound on Highway 84 as crews had to close one lane.
