2 VW test cars and an SUV make 3 in this evening's accident

Two Volkswagen test vehicles were involved in a three-car accident on Maricopa's Main Street Wednesday evening.

According to Phoenix Regional Dispatch, Maricopa police and firefighters responded to the crash on southbound John Wayne Parkway, just past Cobblestone Farms Drive South, at 8:41 p.m.

A Chevrolet SUV at the scene had sustained front-end damage and was sitting idle behind the two Volkswagen test vehicles blocking the inside lane of the road. The Volkswagens showed no obvious damage.

According to city spokeswoman Monica Williams, no one was injured in the chain-reaction collision.

Two southbound lanes were closed at 9:30 p.m. as police cleared the scene.
