With the arrest of two gunmen, including the mastermind, Delhi Police on Thursday (October 3) revealed crucial information about the high-profile shooting incident at a luxury car dealership in Naraina area. According to the released information, Delhi Police initially arrested a gunman identified as Arman Khan (27) from Kanjhawala area of Delhi.

They stated that based on the information received, a trap was laid for Arman, who was spotted by the team and ordered to stop. However, the defendant fired two shots at the police officers as he attempted to escape, prompting the officers to return fire in self-defense. The police shot the defendant in the right leg and arrested him. A semi-automatic pistol and a motorcycle were recovered from his possession. It is noteworthy that Arman was one of three people who entered the Naraina car showroom on September 27 and fired several shots in an extortion attempt.

In another major development, the Delhi Crime Branch also arrested the other accused, identified as Deepak, in connection with the case. Deepak, allegedly the mastermind of the entire incident, has been identified as an international kickboxing player. He provided important information about the case.

The incident, which occurred on September 27, 2024 at around 7:15 p.m., sent shockwaves across the state capital as the opposition questioned the role of the police and the Center in tackling increasing violence against entrepreneurs in extortion attempts. This was not the only case reported this week as two other consecutive extortion-related shootings also rocked the city.

In the Naraina firing case, three people entered the luxury car showroom armed with firearms. One of them pointed a gun at the manager's head while the others began shooting at the cars and televisions, causing extensive property damage. They also stole employees' cell phones and threatened to return if their demands were not met. A case was registered at PS Naraina under relevant sections of law and police initiated an investigation.

The police team monitored the incident manually and technically around the clock. They scanned hundreds of CCTV cameras in the area, which led to concrete information about the main accused Deepak. Acting quickly, the team laid a trap in a town in Rohtak district and successfully arrested Deepak after a brief scuffle in which the accused tried to use his martial arts skills to escape. However, the vigilant police personnel overpowered him.

During the ongoing interrogation, the defendant admitted that he and his employees had demanded extortion money from the owner of the car dealership, but this demand was not fulfilled. He was therefore tasked with investigating the area and opening fire in the exhibition room. He recruited three employees and got the weapon. On September 26, 2024, they gathered at a hotel in Rohtak and the next day executed the plan by having his associates open fire and leave a handwritten note at the crime scene to intimidate the owner and staff into complying with their extortion demand. Deepak stayed outside the exhibition room to avoid being recognized as he was an international level player. After the incident, he fled to Punjab while his associates fled separately with their weapons.

In addition, Deepak has a background as an international level kickboxing player and won the gold medal at the international junior championship three years in a row. He secured a job in the army through the sports quota, but later left. He is an accredited Wushu trainer and runs a kickboxing training center in a town in Rohtak. However, out of greed for money, he agreed to the act.
