Other suspects in a drug ring from the capital region are before the judge

More charges in the Capital Region drug bust that saw 21 people arrested and just 10 pounds of cocaine seized.

More suspects charged in a huge drug bust in the capital region appeared before a judge on Wednesday.

A total of 21 people were arrested in connection with a large ring that sold cocaine and fentanyl throughout the Capital Region. The drugs were brought from Brooklyn and distributed to Rensselaer, Albany, Saratoga, Warren and Washington counties.

About half of the defendants were arrested Tuesday and more are expected in court later this week.

Nearly 10 pounds of cocaine were seized during the operation, the New York Attorney General's Office said.

The alleged ringleaders were Heather Thompson, 38, of Troy, and Jermaine Moreno, 48, of Brooklyn. Moreno allegedly drove kilos of cocaine from New York City to sell to Thompson.

Thompson and Moreno were charged with being a major human trafficker, which carries a penalty of life in state prison.
