Kai Tak Sports Park reports water leaks but says this will not delay progress

During testing over the past two months, three water leaks were reported at Kai Tak Sports Park, leading to a buildup of stagnant water, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau confirmed on Thursday.

The bureau said the incidents occurred between early August and late September, when contractors had completed their repairs and all plumbing fixtures were now functioning normally.

The leaks did not delay the park's construction progress, it said. Authorities had previously announced that the sports park would open in the first quarter of next year.

“The construction of important facilities at Kai Tak Sports Park has entered its final stages. We have instructed the contractor to ensure the quality of the work and the contractor will continue to carry out tests on various facilities and systems,” said a spokesman for the sports park.
