ScotRail delays expected after incident on Haymarket line

ScotRail says services to or from Haymarket will be delayed or changed.

The affected services are Glasgow Queen St, Inverness, Dunblane and Helensburgh Central.

For Edinburgh commuters, the local tram now accepts ScotRail tickets between Edinburgh Park Station and St Andrew Square.

Scottish Citylink ticket acceptance is also available for Scotrail ticket holders between Edinburgh and Glasgow in both directions.

A Herald reporter who was on the 9.15am train from Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh said the train was stopped outside the capital.

The driver then told passengers that someone had been hit in Edinburgh Park and that they would remain in the same spot for a “significant” amount of time.

However, the train changed course shortly afterwards and passengers were informed that it was returning to Glasgow Queen Street.

Police Scotland and ScotRail have been contacted for comment.
