Wrong-way accident shuts down DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Chicago – NBC Chicago

A two-way collision on DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Chicago left three people injured, two critically, and left the main road closed in both directions at the start of the morning rush hour.

According to police, the accident occurred just before 4 a.m. in the 1100 block of North Lake Shore Drive.

There, a vehicle drove the wrong way onto southbound Lake Shore Drive and crashed into an oncoming vehicle traveling northbound, police said.

Two women in the wrong-way vehicle were critically injured in the crash and taken to Northwestern Hospital for “bodily injuries,” authorities said. According to police, a man in the other vehicle was also taken to the hospital with chest pains. It was last listed in good condition.

Authorities said citations are still outstanding and an investigation is ongoing.

As of 6 a.m., northbound lanes remained closed from Chicago Avenue to Michigan Avenue.
