Court drops unsolved murder charges against Kerry Max Cook

SMITH COUNTY, Texas – “It’s finally over.”

Those were the words of Kerry Max Cook On Wednesday, a court dropped charges against him for committing a crime in 1977 that he did not commit.

Cook, who a court found to be him innocent of a murder of Tyler in 1977 and his attorney on September 13th filed a motion to dismiss the original charge against him in the murder of Linda Jo Edwards. Although a Texas appeals court earlier this year identified Cook as such actually innocent Given the crime, the charges still hung over his head.

But not anymore. On Wednesday, Cook's name was officially cleared.
