TL;DR

  • The new Google Lens video search feature is now generally available in the Google app for Android and iOS.
  • Google Lens also gets voice search for photos and an improved product results page that shows prices from all retailers and reviews.
  • The company is also introducing a new AI-organized search results page, a new design for AI Overviews with inline links, and ads in AI Overviews.

Google demonstrated a new video search feature for Google Lens at I/O this year that can be used to answer questions about recorded clips. The feature recently rolled out to some users, and Google has now officially announced wider availability as well as some other handy upgrades to Lens, Search, and AI Overviews.

The new video search feature lets you use Google Lens to record a video with your phone while also asking a question about moving objects in the image. Google says the feature will “understand the video and your question together to create an AI overview along with helpful resources from across the web.” The ability to ask questions isn't just limited to video content; Voice search is available when you take a photo using Google Lens.

Video search and voice input for Lens are rolling out to the Google app for Android and iOS. Both features currently support English queries and the video search feature is currently only available through Search Labs. Additionally, Google Lens is increasingly helping you shop by providing product prices at retailers, reviews, and information about where to buy the product.

In addition to these Lens upgrades, Google is also introducing new features for search and AI overviews. The company is launching a new AI-organized search results page that compiles content and perspectives related to your search query from across the web, making it easier to find useful information. Google previewed this new search results page at I/O this year and it will be available to users in the US starting this week.

AI Overviews, on the other hand, are getting a new design with inline links that help users quickly navigate to relevant web pages and ads for related businesses to further improve the search shopping experience. Google has been testing the new inline link design for some time and is finally rolling it out to all regions where AI Overviews are available. The new ads in AI Overviews are still limited to mobile users in the US and Google hasn't shared details about a wider release.
