2 dead in fatal crash in Van Zandt County

An investigation conducted by DPS revealed that a 2014 Ford Focus was traveling north on Highway 19 when it veered into the northbound lane, striking a 2019 Dodge Journey.

VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas – Two people died in a fatal crash in Van Zandt County on Saturday.

Texas DPS said the accident occurred on Highway 19, south of US 80. An investigation conducted by DPS revealed that a 2014 Ford Focus was traveling north on Highway 19 when it turned into the northbound lane, striking a 2019 Dodge Journey met.

Both drivers were pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford Focus was identified as Karen Carlisle, 63, of Wills Point. The driver of the Dodge Journey was identified as Sara Stoehr, 24, of Larue. Three children were also in the Dodge Journey and were reported injured.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information has been provided. CBS19 will update this article as we learn more.
