Two men convicted in 2021 Dover murder case

DOVER, Del. – The Delaware Department of Corrections has announced the conviction and sentencing of two men responsible for the 2021 shooting and murder of a man in Dover.

The incident occurred on May 14, 2021 at the former Lion's Den Barber Shop in Dover. According to police, the two suspects, 26-year-old Kyree Robinson and 20-year-old Jesean Coverdale, sought out the victim, Javon Jones, in different parts of the Dover area before the shooting. After finding the victim, Coverdale waited outside while Robinson entered the barbershop, which was full of adults and children at the time of the shooting. Robinson came in with his pistol drawn and almost immediately began shooting at Jones, with no regard for the innocent bystanders in the store. He struck and killed Jones before the pair fled the scene.

It was determined that Robinson and Coverdale were looking for the victim in retaliation for an alleged altercation that had previously occurred.

On April 19, Coverdale, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, was arrested and sentenced as an adult to 27 years in prison, with three years suspended and two years probation. He was convicted of second-degree conspiracy and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

On September 25, Robinson was sentenced to a total of 105 years in prison, paroled after 41 years, with three years of consecutive probation. He was convicted of second-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and first-degree reckless endangerment.
