Smithville man charged in Lafayette County drug bust in August | News

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Mo. – An arraignment is scheduled for Monday for a Smithville man who was arrested in Lafayette County in August on multiple drug charges.

According to a probable cause statement, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper initially stopped 52-year-old Matthew Dibben on August 10 for driving a stolen vehicle. Dibben claimed he bought the 2002 Chevy Silverado for $15,000 but only had a bill of sale.

A backpack inside the truck contained a substance believed to be cocaine, as well as a glass pipe and a butane torch. After being booked into the Lafayette County Jail, it was discovered that Dibben was also in possession of methamphetamine.

Dibben faces four counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count each of first-degree tampering with a vehicle and driving while revoked. His arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday.
