'Until Dawn' Remake Leak Reveals New Ending, Announces Sequel Ahead of Release

However, some players have taken an early look at the game and their discoveries have sparked discussion online – most notably the reveal of a brand new ending that hints at a possible sequel.

Although an official announcement of a sequel to Until Dawn has not yet been made, the upcoming film adaptation of the game, announced earlier this year, supports the possibility of a sequel.

New finishes ahead of official release

With the release of the remake imminent, spoilers have already surfaced online. Reddit user “crawlplays” (via Eurogamer) uploaded footage showing the new ending, which includes two post-credit scenes that significantly change the fate of some characters from the original story.

The first post-credit scene focuses on Josh, portrayed by the Oscar winner Rami Malek. In the original Until Dawn, Josh's fate was unclear. Players could watch him perish or transform into a Wendigo, one of the game's vicious creatures.

But at the end of the remake, Josh's story takes a different turn. Instead of succumbing to the Wendigo curse, Josh is shown to have survived, albeit visibly traumatized. A voiceover from Dr. Hill, a character from the game, played by Peter Stormare, suggests that Josh could find redemption, potentially laying the groundwork for his return in a future episode.

A haunting fate for Sam

The second scene after the credits shifts the focus to Sam, played by the Heroes star Hayden Panettiere. Set in Los Angeles years after the horrific events of Until Dawn, Sam is clearly struggling with the consequences of her experience.

A look at her bed reveals several pill bottles, suggesting she is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Additionally, there is a book titled “Creature Myths of the Great Plains,” a subtle nod to the game's supernatural elements.

In a tense moment, Sam's alarm goes off at 6 a.m., but as she tries to silence him, blood begins to flow from a mysterious wound down her arm.

Despite her attempts, she cannot stop the bleeding. Suddenly, an eerie voice calls her name to heighten the tension, making her jump. The scene blurs the lines between reality and hallucination, leaving players to ponder Sam's mental state and what it could mean for future stories.
