Thousands of fake Oasis tickets advertised before North American tour goes on sale | US News

Oasis have warned fans that thousands of fake tickets for their North American tour are being promoted before official sales have begun.

A post on the band's official X account said: “Please be aware. Thousands of fakes.” oasis Tickets were discovered on StubHub and Vivid Seats before the North American tour even went on sale!”

The post was linked to a letter published by the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) on Wednesday – a day before advance tickets went on sale – saying it had found evidence that the highly anticipated U.S. Shows at least 9,000 fake tickets were listed.

“Not only are these tickets counterfeit, but their value is also estimated to be far higher than the face value of genuine tickets,” NIVA said.

The association said StubHub had 2,177 counterfeit tickets for three of the shows and Vivid Seats listed about 3,450 counterfeit tickets.

It said a “significant number” of listings on Vivid Seats contained “no warning or message that the tickets were not owned by the seller, including the most expensive tickets of all three nights.”

Screenshots of various tickets were also provided on both ticket resale websites, where some tickets were advertised for over $11,000 (£8,300).

When accessed in the UK, Sky News found tickets for the same show in Pasadena, California, selling for £8,710 on Vivid Seats – although this was after some legitimate tickets became available during pre-sale voting.

Tickets for the tour, which hits cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto and Mexico City, won't officially be available until October 4th.

It comes after the band issued a similar warning There are warnings in the UK against reselling tickets for their reunion tour at higher prices.

NIVA called on the Senate Commerce Committee to hold a hearing on what it called “predatory ticketing practices,” including the sale of speculative tickets.

It says: “We call on Congress to investigate the ticket brokers and resale platforms that allow these brokers to sell counterfeit tickets and engage in fraudulent practices that victimize fans every day, including in connection with Oasis sales -Tickets in the USA.”

The band reiterated that Twickets US and Ticketmaster were the only places where fans could purchase resale tickets.
