Surfside Beach police said Brian Hagerty was arrested Wednesday following a search.

A police report said Hagerty's arrest was in connection with a reported home invasion in Surfside Beach, but did not provide an exact address.

The victim reportedly told police that she was in her apartment with another person when Hagerty broke through the triple-locked door.

Hagerty, who the victim said was her ex-husband, is then accused of assaulting her and the other person. According to the report, Hagerty allegedly grabbed the victim's arm and threw her to the ground as she tried to get help.

When she called 911, the victim said she told dispatchers that Hagerty got on his motorcycle. According to the police report, officers saw the motorcycle heading to the apartment and attempted to stop Hagerty, but a chase ensued.

Hagerty eventually abandoned the motorcycle in the area of 13th Avenue North and ran away. Surfside Beach police then called neighboring agencies in Horry County and Myrtle Beach to assist in the search, but were unable to locate him at the time of reporting.
