Kayla Harrison: “I’m just getting warmed up”

“I’m at the point in my career where I’m not faking it anymore,” Harrison said. “I am a mixed martial artist. I'm not just a grappler, I'm not just a judo player in the cage, I feel super comfortable anywhere. I believe I’m the best in the world in this cage.”

A big topic of conversation whenever the UFC travels to Salt Lake City is the altitude and how the athletes will adapt. Harrison, who trains with American Top Team in Florida, called a friend to lend her some tools.

“I borrowed Dustin Poirier's altitude tent, so I slept in it before we got out here, and I also came out early, like two weeks before the fight, just to get acclimated and get comfortable,” said Harrison. “Honestly, I feel like I was made for the mountains because I feel better than ever.”

There's a lot at stake in the 135-pound class as the title is up for grabs in the co-main event when champion Raquel Pennington takes on Julianna Peña. The winner of Harrison and Vieira could very well face whoever leaves Delta Center with the belt.
