Federal authorities investigate runaway car incident – InForum

CLAY COUNTY, Minn. – The “runaway car” story is now catching the attention of federal authorities.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it is aware of Sam Dutcher's story from Monday, September 30th.

The federal agency says it is gathering more information from law enforcement and Honda Corp.

On Thursday, October 3, both ABC's Good Morning America and CNN shared the WDAY story of Dutcher's disabled, out-of-control car that sped through parts of Clay County at 113 miles per hour on September 17. Eventually, the car was stopped after police said the 18-year-old intentionally crashed into a Minnesota State Patrol trooper's car in an attempt to slow it down and stop it.
