Bowling Green man pleads guilty to murder and arson charges

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A man has pleaded guilty in a case involving the death of a man in Bowling Green last year.

According to court records, Sean Birge, 30, of Bowling Green, pleaded guilty in Warren Circuit Court on Oct. 1 and is charged with murder, second-degree arson, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

In February 2023, the Warren County Sheriff's Office was contacted to assist with a fire in the 600 block of Penns Chapel Road.

When they arrived, the police found that the house was completely submerged. After the fire was extinguished, firefighters found Wendell Leon Reynolds Jr. dead at the scene, according to police.

News 40 previously reported that an investigation led authorities to Clarksville, Tennessee, where they met with Birge on February 23, 2023.

Officials said at the time that Birge revealed details during the interview and confessed to murdering Reynolds.
