Scottsdale police searching for suspect accused in Valley ATM card fraud; 3 others arrested

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) – Three men are charged with fraud and a fourth is on the run after police say they were involved in a scheme to install card scanners and cameras at ATMs in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Scottsdale police began investigating after a victim reported that his card number had been used to access his money at an ATM in the city. Video surveillance found Fernando Emanuel Cojocaru and Robert Mario Olteanu, as well as a third man, Eduard Ichim, who allegedly planted the skimmers.

Investigators say Cojocaru and Olteanu were arrested after they were seen driving through the valley while placing the skimmer on ATM card readers. Ichim is still on the run.

During a search warrant, police were able to locate and arrest a fourth suspect. He was identified as Petrican Filon.

Cojocaru, Filon and Olteanu were booked into the Maricopa County Jail on six felony charges, including fraud.

Anyone with information about Ichim's whereabouts is asked to call Scottsdale police immediately.
