Columbus men arrested on drug charges in Athens County

As part of an expanded investigation into drug trafficking in the area, officers served a warrant at a home in the 4800 block of Fox Lake Road in Athens.

ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio – Two Columbus men reportedly connected to a drug trafficking organization were arrested Wednesday in Athens County and charged with multiple crimes.

According to the Athens County Sheriff's Office, officers served a warrant at a home in the 4800 block of Fox Lake Road in Athens. The search was carried out as part of an expanded investigation into drug trafficking in the area.

Several people in the house were arrested.

While the search was being conducted in Athens, investigators from the Whitehall Police Department's Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at the primary suspect's home in Whitehall.

The sheriff's office said Whitehall investigators found drug pressing and manufacturing equipment, cash, weapons and other items related to drug trafficking.

Shawn Agee, 37, and Nathaniel Weatherspoon, 47, were arrested and taken to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

Agee was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a fentanyl compound, aggravated possession of methamphetamine, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in a fentanyl compound and trafficking in methamphetamine.

Weatherspoon was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a fentanyl compound, aggravated possession of methamphetamine, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in a fentanyl compound and trafficking in methamphetamine.

The case will be referred to the Athens County District Attorney's Office and additional charges are expected.
