4 Atlanta Falcons who could be on their way out in early 2024 after struggling

It's hard to believe that the Atlanta Falcons couldn't rise above Lorenzo Carter and Ebiketie on the sidelines. Ebiketie's issues have already been addressed, as Carter wasn't much better for Atlanta. Lorenzo Carter is a solid run defender and shows great effort, but can't get to the quarterback.

Setting the edge, defending the run, and following plays are all great traits you look for in a starting edge rusher. The most important thing, however, is the obvious ability to get to the quarterback. Something Carter hasn't been able to do consistently during his time in Atlanta.

It would be a shock to see Carter make it to the quarterback and finish a play. In his 38 games with the Falcons, Carter has 7.0 total sacks. That's far more reps than the younger Ebiketie, who managed 8.5 sacks.

Atlanta's decision to keep Carter on the roster and allow Bud Dupree to enter free agency is among the most confusing decisions the team has made. The Atlanta Falcons have 5.0 sacks as a team this season. Dupree and former Falcons defensive lineman Calais Campbell have a combined 4.0 on their respective teams. You can't continue to justify starting a player because he just isn't getting the job done.
