Mariska Hargitay on the role “all the famous people” want on “SVU.”

There is a role that all the biggest stars want to play Law & Order: Special Victims Unitsaid star and executive producer Mariska Hargitay.

The actress performed Late Night with Seth Meyers before the SVU Season 26 premieres on Thursday. While speaking to the host, she revealed that celebrities who want to guest star on the long-running show all want to play dead.

“All famous people, do you know what they want? “Being a corpse,” she told Seth Meyers. “It's so strange.”

Hargitay recalled that she recently spoke to a “big supermodel” whom she declined to name, but noted that she was “one of the greats” who, despite everything, just wanted to portray a dead person SVU Authors who play a more detailed role for them.

“I found out she loved my show. So I said, “Oh my God,” I went to the writers and asked, “Can she be on the show?” And she said she wanted to be a corpse, but then I said, “No, no, we have this one great role for you,'” she said HE said the actress. “I call them back and say, 'Listen, we get it.' We're putting you on the show.' She says, 'Oh no, I want to be a corpse.'”

Admittedly, the late-night host was one of those people who just wanted to play dead.

“I wanted to be a corpse. I met them all during the 2007-2008 writers' strike law and order writers, and I thought, 'I want to do a cameo, but I just want to be a corpse,'” Meyers recalls. “And they said, 'Oh my God, we'd love to have you on the show.' But I thought, 'Okay, but I'm a dead person.'”

Although he was eventually offered a role, he turned it down because he “said, 'I don't want any lines, I just want to be a dead person in the park.'”

Elsewhere in the late night appearance, Hargitay shared that there was one thing she really wanted to do on an episode of the Dick Wolf series, but the writers wouldn't let her: get drunk.

“I don't know who to call to get a drunk gig because I'm so good at it and I'm begging I please” she said. “I mean, I'm America's sweetheart, I thought. I beg her to write me a drunken scene. They won’t.”

She joked that instead she has to go to bars and not drink, but pretend to be drunk in the hope that there will be a producer there who will cast her in a role where she can portray a drunk person.

Law and Order: SVU Season 26 premieres tonight on NBC and will air subsequent episodes on Thursdays, airing the next day on Peacock.
