As recovery efforts continue in the South following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, the American Red Cross in Eastern New York is urgently seeking additional volunteers to support ongoing relief efforts. The organization is calling on individuals to get involved as more help is needed in affected areas. To volunteer, candidates must complete the required training and be able to commit to a two-week assignment. Currently, 40 New Yorkers are among the 1,300 Red Cross members already on site. But officials emphasize that more help will be needed as recovery efforts increase. Josh Moskowitz, the American Red Cross regional disaster officer in Eastern New York, emphasized the need for continued support, stating, “There will be a need for more.” So we've done a great job getting the first wave there. And now we're looking for people who are willing to come forward and say, 'Hey, you know what?' I'm going to join the fight, too.” For those who can't volunteer, the Red Cross is also there dependent on blood and monetary donations.
