Garth Brooks: Country star accused of rape by former hair and makeup artist | Ents & Arts News

Country music star Garth Brooks has been accused of rape and sexual assault in a lawsuit filed by his former hair and makeup artist.

The woman, who does not give her name in the lawsuit and calls herself Jane Roe, claims the assault occurred while she was traveling from Nashville to Los Angeles with the singer, who was performing at the 2019 Grammy Awards.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges that although Brooks normally traveled with a companion, she flew alone to the event on his private jet and that he only booked a hotel suite for both of them.

The woman claims he showed up naked in the bedroom doorway of the suite and raped her.

Representatives for Brooks have declined to comment.

The lawsuit goes on to say that Books proceeded as if nothing had happened and expected her to do his hair and makeup immediately afterward.

The woman further claims that earlier that same year, while she was at Brooks' home, he appeared naked in front of her, grabbed her hands and placed them on his genitals.

To forestall the allegations, Brooks allegedly filed a separate lawsuit in federal court in Mississippi last month in which both he and the woman remained anonymous, Thursday's lawsuit said.

In court filings in the case, the plaintiff, named John Doe, said the allegations were “completely untrue” and he first learned about them in July, when she threatened to publicly sue him if he didn't give her millions of dollars.

He asked a judge to stop the woman from “intentional infliction of emotional distress, defamation and false invasion of privacy.”

Jane Roe's lawsuit alleges that in addition to the two incidents described, Brooks exposed himself to her on many other occasions, discussed sexual fantasies with her, and sent her explicit text messages.

She says she was forced to continue working for him due to financial difficulties, which he knew about and took advantage of.

The unnamed plaintiff is also believed to have worked for Brooks' wife, country singer Trisha Yearwood, since 1999.
