Vehicle pursued for armed robbery and kidnapping leads to three-vehicle crash on I-29

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A three-vehicle crash on I-29 Thursday afternoon was the result of a chase involving an armed robbery and kidnapping, Kansas City police said.

The accident, which occurred just after 5 p.m. Thursday, involved a black Volkswagen Jetta that was being pursued by KCPD and other law enforcement agencies.

The Jetta was occupied by two suspects and refused to stop for officers, the Kansas City Missouri Police Department said.

It was pursued for several minutes until it traveled south on Interstate 29 and encountered stationary traffic. The Volkswagen then hit a black Dodge Journey and a blue Hyundai Santa Fe.

According to police, the Hyundai flipped onto its driver's side after the impact.

Both suspects were arrested and taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The drivers of the other two vehicles were also taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
